How To Support the Wellbeing of your Nursing and Midwifery Team who are Going Through A Fitness to Practice Investigation.

Being referred to the NMC can be incredibly stressful for registrants, leaving them feeling anxious, isolated, scared and overwhelmed. This webinar has been specifically designed to support the line managers of nurses, midwives, and nursing associates (“registrants”) who are currently going through, the NMC fitness to practise process. Fitness to practise investigations can place significant emotional and mental strain on staff, and it is crucial for managers to understand the impact that they have when referring or supporting their staff.

 

In collaboration with NMCWatch, this webinar will focus on equipping nursing and midwifery leaders and managers with the tools and knowledge needed to support their staff throughout the fitness to practise process.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • To understand the emotional and mental health impact of the fitness to practise process on staff

  • To help managers improve their support for staff undergoing fitness to practise

  • To understand the importance of encouraging staff to seek help and support when needed

  • To provide information on external support services and resources for both managers and staff.

Duration: One Hour and a Half, 6.00pm - 7.30pm.

1. Introduction (5 minutes)  

   - Welcome and introductions  

   - Overview of the webinar objectives 

 

2. Presentation (15 minutes):

An inspirational story from a nurse who has gone through the NMC fitness to practise. Through her lived experience she shares the overwhelming negative impact that the process had on her mental health and emotional wellbeing but most importantly how she survived.


3. Q&A and Discussion (60 minutes):
Supporting Staff Wellbeing.
 

4. Where to Find Support for Your Staff (10 minutes)  

   - An introduction to NMCWatch, Nurse Lifeline, and other support services.
